Regan Rodriguez had enough of Audrey’s decorating habits. She went to the local florist and picked out some bright daffodils. Sure they were overpriced, however Regan felt a surge of joy every time she supported a small local business. A few moments after Rhonda the florist exclaimed, “Thank you! You’re going to love these,” Regan remembered Audrey’s weekly budget goal for anything pertaining to unnecessary apartment items. She shrugged it off and figured, “The apartment is so dreary and my parents are coming over this weekend. My therapy will be ten times more expensive if they see how we live. I’m never there, but that doesn’t matter to them. I’m actually saving money.” Rhonda smiled, “Excellent girl math for the important things in life my dear!” Regan didn’t want to ruin the vibe, yet she hated that phrase “girl math.” She may be not amazing at math, however she knew plenty of girls that were. It made her feel that girls pursuits were trivial and frivolous, while for a guy, they would be profound and adventurous.
Regan regathered her train of thought and grabbed the now wrapped up flowers. She decided to take her bike due to the beautiful weather and for the continuation of the vibes. Was she wasting time? Yes. Did Regan know that though? No. Not until hindsight of where the semester went and Audrey’s monthly timesheet.
The flowers were placed aesthetically in the wicker basket. One or two petals fell to the ground and Regan pretended she didn’t see that. She was normally very fast biking home, but this was an “enjoying the moment” kind of ride. The side roads were the majority of the journey, but she sped up on the main roads as she hated the sound of cars rushing by.
When Regan arrived home she placed the gorgeous flowers right when one walks in to be greeted by beauty. It was lucky that she purchased them on Friday as Audrey was not one to recall that flowers need water.
