Jay and the Tour

Jay was kept late giving a tour of the volcano. It was a closed site and Audrey was not meant to be there while she was recovering. The gases affected her power.

Audrey had planned a night with Jay to do research on the archaic texts that were somehow the key to the sky. Obviously, Audrey could do it herself…obviously… “But he promised!” Audrey thought to herself. What an odd thought. Why did Audrey care about spending extra time with Jay. All he did was talk about his skateboard mods.

She had enough. Audrey marched up the mountain and right past the caution signs that it was a closed site. She’s the one who started this project. The group had found a sample and was explaining to the tour its properties. Vona was holding the sample while she said, “Audrey you aren’t meant to be here.” Audrey heated up, “And Jay isn’t meant to be here either. He committed to time with ME.”

Vona crossed her arms and rolled her eyes, “Yes, but we found a sample.” Audrey lost it, “You really think I care?” She grabbed the sample and threw it in the volcano. Audrey motioned for Jay to follow and he sprinted after that display. Vona was still dumbfounded. Audrey yelled with her back turned as they walked away, “BILL ME.”

When they got back to the cabin Audrey fainted in Jay’s arms. When she woke up on the couch Jay was making tea and shortly handed it to her. “Thank you for that, you didn’t need to stay. I normally pass out on the couch, the floor isn’t that much different. I just didn’t want to give Vona the satisfaction that I couldn’t handle the gases. My voice always sounds slightly different when I’m there and everything just feels lighter. Like lightheaded and then I end up somewhere like here.

Jay laughed, “But that ‘bill me’ comment was hilarious if I wasn’t so scared. She will probably fine you through the department though so don’t expect to have your weekly lettuce wraps this month.”

Audrey replied, “Yeah, I’ll figure something out. That brat is so self-centered and not in the cool way.”

Jay changed his tone, “So when you said I committed to time with you…were you really bothered by me not helping? I just figured it was an impromptu thing.”

Audrey blushed, “Well, I just had planned to get food delivered —and then my time table in my bullet journal was written in pen so now it’s all wrong and not an accurate depiction of what happened.”

(They figure out together how to erase the ink, but it is still visible in multispectral imaging which will come into play later.)

(Later they find the sample that was thrown in the volcano had been activated by extreme heat, leading to one more piece for the city in the sky.)
